Organic and Biodynamic Wines

Organic wine and biodynamic wine are both produced using sustainable farming methods, but they have some significant differences.

Organic wines are produced using grapes grown according to organic farming methods. This means that farmers avoid the use of synthetic chemicals and GMOs . European Regulation 203/2012 establishes precise rules for the production of organic wine. Producers must comply with these rules to obtain the “ Bio ” logo. During winemaking, only oenological products and processes authorized by the regulation are used.

Wines produced according to biodynamic regulations are obtained from biodynamic agriculture, which goes beyond organic agriculture. It is not yet recognized at a legislative level, but it is regulated by the Demeter association. Biodynamic agriculture is based on respect for the natural course of nature, including the phases of the moon. Biodynamic preparations (natural composts) are used in certain phases of the year.
