The “Le Sughere del Montefico” farm is located in the municipality of Rio, the mining heart of the eastern part of the Island of Elba, and extends over Monte Fico, which dominates the town of Rio Marina, for 35 hectares of which approximately 7 are cultivated with vineyards with a high density of vines. The vineyards are located on hillside terraces of soil rich in skeleton and minerals, sloping towards the sea on one side and close to the woodland of cork oaks, pines and Mediterranean scrub that covers Monte Fico on the other. This happy natural position characterizes the aromas and flavors of the grapes and therefore of the wines that reach their maximum expression in the passito wines. Flavors and aromas made even more intense and particular in the passito wines thanks to innovative methods in the natural drying process.
