Aglianicois an Italian red grape variety of great prestige and tradition, recognized as one of the best wines of Southern Italy. Originally from Greece, it is grown mainly in the regions ofBasilicata, Campania, Puglia and Molise.
There are many types of Aglianico: Aglianico del Sannio, Aglianico Taurasi, Aglianico Taburno, Aglianico del Vulture.
It adapts very well to clayey, calcareous and volcanic hilly terrains. It is quite resistant to powdery mildew, but sensitive to downy mildew and bunch rot.
Aglianico produces elegant , robust , tannic wines with good aging potential.
