“Dutch Courage” was the name of the portion of gin given to Dutch soldiers before battle during the Thirty Years’ War. There was a need to be brave and drinking a few glasses of gin could help. The Zuidam distillery was founded in 1975 in the Netherlands. It was a factory of just 300 meters with a single copper still capable of producing a single line of products. Today the distillery has significantly expanded: 3500 square meters and four different production lines. The unique taste of Zuidam gin comes from a special blend of botanicals distilled using the discontinuous distillation method. Produced using artisanal and traditional methods, it is then refined in American oak barrels for a few months. Flavored with ten botanicals, it has a unique flavor thanks to the time spent in contact with the wood.
