Grillo White Wines

the Cricket It is a white grape variety widespread especially in the Western Sicily . Probably originating from Puglia , the cricket arrived in Sicily after phylloxera, initially settling in the area of Marsala and then in the other provinces of the island. It is also known by the synonym Riddu . This vine has a particular importance in the production of Marsala DOC , where it is often used together with Inzolia and to the Catarratto . In the 30s, Grillo even occupied the 60% of the vineyard area of the whole of Sicily. The best Marsala is actually obtained by vinifying Grillo.

Grillo is capable of producing wines of high alcohol content and has a predisposition to aging.
