Chardonnay White Wines

Chardonnay is an international white grape variety, grown in all wine-growing areas of the world.

The origins of Chardonnay are unclear. Some scholars suggest Middle Eastern roots, while others believe it was born from a spontaneous cross between a pre-domesticated vine and a grape variety from Illyria . It has gradually spread throughout the world since the end of the 19th century , starting from Burgundy. It is said that its name derives from Chardonnay , the namesake town of the Maconian in Burgundy. Some attribute its birth to the Holy Land, on the hills of Jerusalem, where the Crusaders would have found some vine shoots that produced an exceptional wine so much so that they recognized the name of "la porte du Seigneur", whose translation in Hebrew would be "Shaar Adonai".

Chardonnay is used for the production of still white wines and, above all, for that of classic method sparkling wines . It is one of the most versatile vines in the world and adapts well to any terroir, allowing for abundant production.
