Juniper Bird Gin is a gin of Dutch origin, produced in the city of Schiedam, known for its distilling tradition.
The name of the gin refers to the Juniper Bird, or juniper tit, a bird that feeds on juniper berries and contributes to their spread. Juniper is in fact one of the main ingredients of gin, along with other botanicals such as coriander seed, angelica root, lemongrass, cardamom, pistachio turpentine and oregano.
These last two botanicals are particularly significant for the creator of Juniper Bird Gin, O.Ozdemir, who grew up in the coastal village of Selinus in Turkey, where as a child he collected oregano and wild pistachios to sell at the market. Thus, the gin tells not only the taste of the Mediterranean, but also the personal history and childhood experiences of its producer.
Juniper Bird Gin is characterised by its herbaceous and nutty flavour, with notes of lemon and spices.
It has an alcohol content of 42% and is suitable for pairing with premium tonics or classic cocktails such as the Dirty Martini or the Gin & Basil Smash.
