It is a trend that has been repeated for years that consecrates the success of rosé wines , especially during the summer period. If throughout the year we are more clear in our decisions regarding wine, choosing between a white or a red, in the summer orienting ourselves towards rosé is now a recurring choice. We will therefore see more and more, at an aperitif rather than at a summer dinner, to see glasses of rosé wines. But let's find out the reasons why we are attracted to rosé in the summer.
THE CHROMATIC FACTOR
It may seem like a related and even superficial element for many, but color is a fundamental element of our choices. Even in the wine sector. Pink is a color that has always stimulated sensations of sweetness, calm, serenity and positivity. And not only that; it evokes great elegance and refinement . So, it is no coincidence that in the most carefree period of the year our choice falls on rosé wines. Furthermore, rosé wines really come in a thousand shades and tones, so there is a wine and a color for each of us. We go from the pale pink of the famous Provençal wines to the cherry red of the classic rosés from Abruzzo.
The color tones are obviously determined by the grapes with which the wines are produced and by the production technique . In the case of the grape variety, a wine produced with Aglianico del Vulture grapes will certainly have a much more marked chromatic tone than one produced with Grenache grapes.
As regards the production method of the wine, for example, if we think of one obtained with the bloodletting technique, we will have before us a wine with a strong character and the rosé will be intense.
THE OLFACTORY CHOICE
The nose is one of the organs we use the most, stimulating the mind to memories and sensations. This is also why we choose rosé wines in the summer, as they are close to an olfactory bouquet very coherent with what surrounds us, made of fresh fruit and flowers. All this has a strong appeal on our state of mind and relaxation.
LAST BUT DECISIVE, THE TASTE
In the past, rosé wines were considered not very high quality, combining the light color factor with a lack of power and prestige. But not only for this. Unfortunately, it was produced in a reckless way, blending various wines just to obtain the light color and the result were wines of poor quality and difficult, almost impossible to drink. Today, rosé wines, enjoying a strong rebirth and a structural production requalification of the same, follow a precise production method . The result is great freshness , minerality and lightness , capable of classic pairings of fish with white meats and vegetables. Their non-imposing structure and ease of drinking make them very friendly for our summer appointments, whether it is a dinner or a short aperitif.
