Jefferson is a Calabrian liqueur that takes its name from the captain of a ship that sank in Calabria at the end of the 19th century and found shelter at the Vecchio Magazzino Doganale, where he created the famous Amaro Importante. The Vecchio Magazzino Doganale selects and hand-picks most of the botanicals used, including the IGP lemons of Rocca Imperiale, the sweet and bitter oranges of Bisignano from the family garden, the bergamots of Pellaro, the oregano of Palombara and the rosemary of Bisignano, fruits and herbs unique in the world. Everything is processed separately, in hydroalcoholic infusion respecting the raw material and seasonality, for this reason more than 11 months pass to assemble Jefferson, without ever resorting to artificial flavors or colorants, a linen cloth is the tool used for filtering. Ideal served fresh or with ice, surprising in mixing as a bitter or in support of vermouth.
In 2018 it was awarded as the best liqueur in the world at the World's Drink Awards in London (World Drink Awards) both as the best herbal liqueur (Best World Herbal Liqueur) and as the best world liqueur (Best World Liqueur).
